Smart Move /// GM will build Cadillac Converj- Best looking Caddy since '59

After much hemming and hawing, General Motors will reportedly build a version of the Cadillac Converj, the gorgeous but awkwardly named extended-range coupe concept first shown at last year's Detroit Auto Show. According to The Detroit News, the Converj will probably take a few years to reach dealer showrooms, as GM will first direct its efforts on launching the Chevrolet Volt, the more affordable sedan with which it is likely to share much of its Voltec drivetrain architecture.

This has the physical proportions of a car with the engine and drive train of a bike but the unique pleasure of using neither.

Giant ass pic of the twin turbo v6 Leno Camaro

Chevrolet unveiled five dramatic Camaro concepts at the annual automotive aftermarket extravaganza known as the SEMA Convention, each representing a different vision of style, personalization and performance. The Jay Leno Camaro, a race-ready, twin-turbocharged V-6 concept built for talk show host and auto enthusiast Jay Leno is one of them.

Powered by a twin-turbocharged version of the 3.6L direct injected V-6 that is standard in Camaro LS and LT models, Leno’s Camaro blends high performance with surprising efficiency in a racing-ready package.

A pair of Turbonetics T-3 turbochargers blows through a custom air-to-air intercooler, force-feeding the engine about seven pounds of boost and lifting its horsepower level to about 425. That’s about 40 percent greater than stock and in normal driving (when the turbochargers aren’t making boost), there’s virtually no penalty in fuel economy over the non-turbocharged 3.6L engine.

“Jay’s Camaro offers style, performance and efficiency in a big way,” said Dewar. “It delivers the power of a Camaro SS on demand, but with the fuel economy of a V-6.”

SEMA 2009 /// Bigfoot still a crowd favorite, 35 years later

We distinctly remember 3rd grade. Specifically, sitting in the library once a month during recess. Why would we give up dodgeball and four-square to sit inside and read? Because the new issues of Off Road and 4Wheeler had just dropped and they had stories about Bigfoot! Bearfoot too, and Carzilla – but mostly Bigfoot! Happy days, happy days. And here at this year's SEMA Show, both the original 1975 Bigfoot #1 (the world's first monster truck) and the new-for-2009 Bigfoot (#12 of fifteen Bigfoots) showed up to terrorize the Las Vegas Convention Center's parking lot.

Electric Motorcycle Racing Comes to California /// Cant wait!

Azhar Hussain is bringing his electric-motorcycle green grand prix to the United States, and the first race is slated for Northern California.

Just two days after unveiling the Mavizen TTX02 electric superbike, the founder of the TTXGP eGrandPrix announced Infineon Raceway will host America’s first running of his zero-emissions race. The race will be May 14 to 16 during the AMA Motorcycle Sonoma Showdown weekend.

“Competition improves the breed, so we hope this new U.S. championship will come to be seen as a milestone event in bringing new transportation technology to the world beyond motorcycling,” Hussain said. “We invite the best and the brightest in the world to join us at Infineon Raceway for the dawning of the next generation of motorsports in the United States.”

You can buy this, but you still wont be as cool as Steve

Beyond starring in some awesome movies, Steve McQueen raced a Porsche, rode a Triumph and wore a Monaco. However tenuously those things might be related, Triumph and Tag Heuer mashed them up in the motorcycle you see here.

The Bonneville-Heuer commemorates the 50th anniversary of the iconic Bonneville motorcycle and the 40th anniversary of the Monaco watch. As for the paintjob, it’s a riff on the famous Gulf livery of the No. 20 Porsche 917 McQueen drove in the film Le Mans.

No, you can’t have one because, like McQueen, there is only one. It’s slated to appear at watch shows and high-end jewelry shops around Europe. If Triumph and Tag they were serious about the homage, they’d have someone jump it over a barbed-wire fence.

Once again, Ultima rapes Top Gear track record

Best part about this video is that it still has a clutch pedal and gear shifter....

Vid /// Tuned Porsche 996 Turbo loses it at 224 MPH

About 54 seconds in, the incredibly high speeds achieved by the 996 prompted the sunroof to pop right off. That's bad when you're going 85, but when you're cruising at nearly one third the speed of sound, it can be catastrophic. A few seconds after the impromptu top-popping, the 996 gets sideways and ends up taking an unscheduled tiptoe through the weeds. The video is pretty entertaining, but it's also informative. If you're building a world-beating track star capable of speeds of over 200 mph, don't opt for the sunroof.
